We have been in business since 1964 as an independently owned, commercial wool testing lab located in Denver, Colorado. We test raw wool for yield and fiber diameter and at various stages of the textile manufacturing process.

We also provide individual animal testing to provide selection data for breeders, providing individual micron test reporting which is fast, accurate and affordable for sheep, alpacas, angora goats, cashmere goats and llamas. Individual animal fiber test pricing information can be found in the following sample forms linked below.

Yocom-McColl’s instrumentation technology for measuring average animal fiber diameter measurement includes CSIRO's Sirolan Laserscan, BSC Electronics' OFDA100 (Optical Fibre Diameter Analyser), and the OFDA2000 (staple profile testing).

Alpaca Owners Association Inc (EPD Program)

EPDs provide an estimate of the average difference in an individual's progeny performance as compared to the national alpaca herd OR as compared to another individual alpaca. EPDs cannot predict the outcome of a single breeding, but rather predict the progeny performance on average over a number of progeny. Utilization of EPDs for traits in breeding plans which include selection for desired traits will, over time, move the herd's performance in the desired direction.
